A Revival of Needle Worked Jewelry
My own first wire jewelry pieces were crocheted. My grandmother taught me how to crochet and was a real stickler for even stitches and how I held my hands. To this day I'm grateful to her for insistence on precision. So I'm really enjoying seeing the recent revival of crocheting and knitting wire for jewelry applications. You'll see both some basic and more challenging books here on the subject.

Crocheted Wire Jewelry by Arline Fisch

Of all of the how-to wire crochet books on the market, this is a favorite. Of course, it's written by the famous textile techniques in metal author, Arline Fisch, but it's also one of the few crochete3d jewelry books available that has some real originality to it. The tagline for this book is, "Innovative Designs and Projects by Leading Artists" which, as it says, is a book compiled by using projects from a variety of art jewelers as well as the very accomplished Fisch.
Learning how to make wire jewelry, crocheted wire jewelry from a master's perspective is indeed a unique treat. You're not just going to see more of the same old, same old jumble of open crochet with beads in this book: this is a book with an extremely large range of varied crochet techniques as applied to wire jewelry. And the projects are from greats like Joan Dulla (who devised her own variation on crochet) and Michael David Sturlin. Make sure to check out Joan Dulla's "Corn Necklace" and Michael David Sturlin's "Yellow Gold Necklace" for particular treats.
As you wander thru this book, you'll find a number of truly luscious wire jewelry projects. After the Basics, Fisch leads you into three yummy chain stitch projects which leads you to ten single crochet jewelry projects. Next is Crochet Projects with Beads which will offer you some considerable surprises. Just when you'd thought you'd seen it all in wire crochet jewelry, you'll discover there's still more to learn and be inspired by. Double Crochet and Crochet Pattern Projects offers up three more enticing wire jewelry techniques that will get you going followed by Hairpin Lace Projects that you'll likely drool over. Projects Using Other Crochet Methods are the two I mentioned earlier by Dulla and Sturlin. But wait! There's more! This book's gallery section is simply stunning offering yet even more inspiration and enthusiasm for this time tested craft.
Here's the real bottom line to this book: it has tremendous value to offer it's readers because it's just not like soo many of the books that are just half heartedly pumped out today by anyone with a book layout. This is an old fashioned book that really cares what it has to offer wire crochet jewelers. Just click on the book photo above for more information about this book from Amazon. Excellent jewelry making instructions. Thanks for reading and enjoy!

Crochet Wire Jewelry by Nancy Waille

I got this book as a Christmas present and am always thrilled to get new wire jewelry making books. The two bracelets on the book's cover inspired its' purchase I was told (as my purchaser well knows my love of wire jewelry and especially colored wire jewelry).
The book starts out with a solid introduction to crocheting with a nice section on "Tips and Tricks" and a good Materials section. The book then launches into the wire jewelry projects it has to offer. Sections are broken down into "Rings, Brooches and Earrings", "Necklaces and Bracelets", and "Accessories". Total wire jewelry projects are sixteen.
Crochet Wire Jewelry is a solid book with a wide variety of crochet jewelry projects that beginners learning how to make wire jewelry will find quite viable. While there aren't that many advanced projects in the book, there is still some inspiration to be gotten for more sophisticated crocheters. Standout projects include the Sphere Ring, the Glamorous Choker and the Leaf Necklace. My personal favorites are the cuff bracelets with the clever button clasp. Just click on the photo of the book to get more info about this book at Amazon.

Creative Crochet Jewelry by Esther Zaddock

This lovely book will undoubtedly provide you with some major inspiration for making just lovely crocheted jewelry. The book is broken down into chapters including: Bracelets and Bangles, Necklaces, Earrings and yes, Rings. There are roughly 30 crochet jewelry projects, tutorials, for you to choose from. Even if you want to learn how to crochet and have never done it before, you'll find everything you need to in Creative Crochet Jewelry by Esther Zaddock.
One of the best things about this book is that, unlike many other jewelry making books out there, Esther has a good eye and is a wonderful jewelry designer. This jewelry is right on which often is no small task for a crocheter. Call me crazy but I just can't see wearing bulky crocheted flowers tightly around my neck which is the type of poor designing often offered in other crochet jewelry books. You won't see that kind of thing here. Esther gives you elegant and well thought out design along with her tight hand and expertise as a crocheter.
You should know that Ester does use gold thread in a lot of her pieces but wire can easily be substituted should you prefer that. The Classic Gold Bangle uses gold filled wire and is lovely. She also uses elasticized thread in some of her crochet jewelry projects which is just great for avoiding the use of clasps
This is a very thorough book that a beginner can well learn from quite nicely. More advanced crocheters can also benefit from this inspiring, jam packed volume. Big vote up on Creative Crochet Jewelry.
